Burns Like the Sun

But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, [even] to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.  – Daniel 12:4

New Super Laser Burns Like the Sun

By VOA News – 30 May 2009

The world’s strongest laser – powerful enough to create conditions as hot as inside the Sun – was unveiled Friday in the western U.S. state of California for an audience of politicians and scientists.

The stadium-sized National Ignition Facility actually houses 192 lasers that all point towards a tiny blob of hydrogen.

When the lasers shoot, scientists expect the hydrogen will fuse into helium, a chemical reaction like what makes stars burn and nuclear bombs explode.

The government says it will allow scientists to study in a lab what happens in a nuclear explosion. They say it will help scientists assess the safety of the aging U.S. nuclear arsenal.

Another discovery born out of the knowledge of man, a super laser that can burn like the sun, ouch.  As the scriptures portend, knowledge will increase in the end of days.

Although we have witnessed throughout history amazing break through discoveries that have changed and benefited societies, not all discoveries bore good fruit.  If the world was full of peaceful and God fearing hearts that would be one thing.  But in the hands and minds of imperfect people, power along with knowledge and super sci-fi like toys can have devastating effects.   Let’s hope that’s not the case here.

  1. Reminds me of:

2Ti 3:5 holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these.

2Ti 3:7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

2Ti 3:8 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these {men} also oppose the truth, men of depraved mind, rejected in regard to the faith.

They search for scientific truth but not real Truth!!
